Photo: Joran Van Der Sloot Impregnates Woman From Peruvian Prison
Though serving a 28-year sentence in a Peruvian prison for killing a young woman in the country’s capital, Dutchman Joran van der Sloot has reportedly impregnated a woman.
He may be locked-up in Lima, but according to a Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, Van der Sloot’s lawyer, Maximo Altez, is saying his client and a woman identified only as “Leidi” are expecting a child next Spring.
Van der Sloot himself is also said to have confirmed that “Leidi” is in her third month, saying that despite regularly using birth control, the woman forgot to take it before an unsupervised visit at the prison.
Last year, Peruvian media said Van der Sloot and a woman named Leydi Figueroa Uceda were in a relationship and claimed the woman was pregnant. Altez denied this, saying the two were just friends.
With similar names, it seems “Leidi” and Leydi are one in the same, and this time, there actually is a child.
Van der Sloot is currently appealing his conviction, and should this child be born or he marry “Leidi”, he could obtain Peruvian nationality. If he were to do either, he could resist extradition to the U.S., where he is wanted for allegedly attempting to extort money from Natalee Holloway’s family in exchange for telling them were to find their body.
Holloway went missing in 2005 while on a high school graduation trip to Aruba. She was 18 when she was last seen, and Van der Sloot and the Kalpoe brothers were the last to see her alive or otherwise. Her body was never found and there was never enough evidence to convict either Van der Sloot or the Kalpoe brothers, Deepak and Satish.
However, in 2010, Van der Sloot was accused of and pled guilty to murdering Peruvian Stephany Tatiana Flores Ramírez in Lima exactly five years after Holloway’s disappearance.
Van der Sloot reportedly told De Telegraaf “Leidi” has no intention of having an abortion as it is against her Catholic faith.
