Photo: John McCaine visits Colombia
Starting Sunday, Senator McCain will visit Colombia to witness first hand the consequences of the numerous natural disasters in the northern regions of the Latin American nation, and to push for the approval of the Free Trade Agreement.
McCain will be traveling with Wyoming Senator John Barrasco. The visit is part of a much larger tour that includes stops in Panamá, México, Chile and Brazil.
The FTA with Colombia has been stuck in the US Legislative for the last four years. Despite being signed by ex-President Bush, negotiations were frozen by Bush-era democrats, who alleged violence against business syndicates as a reason for not approving the treaty.
