As Venezuela mourns the passing of its beloved (depending on who you ask) or feared (depending on who you ask) President (or dictator, depending on who you ask) his pal Iran’s Mahmoud Ahmadinejad made a prediction: Chavez will be back.
Ahmadinejad, a person that has never let something like logic or truth get in the way, predicts that Chavez will return to “redeem mankind” much like Jesus did and the Muslim prophet, Hidden Imam.
The Iran President sent a letter of condolence to the people of Iran and also posted his dribblings on his website honoring his fellow “anti-imperalist” friend. Ahmadinejad commented according to the NY Times: “I have no doubt he will come again along with all the righteous people and the Prophet Jesus and the only successor of the righteous generation, the perfect human.”
Both leaders forged on a friendship based on their anti-American sentiment. During a visit to Caracas in January of 2012, President Ahmadinejad described U.S. concern about Iran’s engagement with Latin America as “laughable.” President Chavez said it is the United States—not Iran—that is a true threat to international security. Chavez often recalled that thousand of homes and over 20 plants for producing food products were built with the collaboration of Iranian companies.
