“This is Nelson,” Katy McCaffrey posts on Facebook. “Nelson has my stolen iPhone.”
During a Disney Wonder cruise last month, Katy says her iPhone was stolen. At first she had no idea who could have taken, but then the photos started coming in.
You see, iCloud allows those using newer Apple devices like the iPhone to have photos automatically uploaded to Apple’s Photo Stream. The alleged iPhone thief was apparently not aware of this, however.
Known only as Nelson, the alleged thief began taking photos of himself, his friends, buildings in Mexico, his views of Cabo san Lucas, and even his girlfriend.
The photos reveal Nelson is apparently a cruise employee – he wears the standard polo and a crew member nametag, so Katy forwarded the photos to Disney Cruise lines.
That was not all Katy did, however. She created, and made public a Facebook photo album titled, “Stolen iPhone Adventures” and posted 16 photos taken with her iPhone after it was taken.
As of Thursday at noon, Katy’s album has been shared just under 15,000 times since it’s creation at the start of the week.
The now-famous Nelson has reportedly been placed on “administrative leave” by the cruise line but still remains on the Disney Wonder ship.
The iPhone has been recovered and Nelson has been restricted from guest areas.
