The Pulitzer Prize foundation announced numerous winners in journalism and letters, drama and music categories. Amongst the winners was the investigative reporting team of David Barstow and Alejandra Xanic von Bertrab of the New York Times.
The duo won the “Investigative Reporting” Pulitzer for their investigation into Wal-Mart’s dubious business practices in Mexico that led to their market domination. The New York Times in total won 4 Pulitzers.
Another New York Times writer, David Barboza, won a Pulitzer for his international reporting. Barboza wrote of the Chinese Prime Minister’s family tied to corruption and questioned the sources of their amassed wealth.
Photographer Narciso Contreras was one of several AP photographers to win a Pulitzer for “Breaking News Photography”. In addition, Javier Manzano won for his freelance photography work.
