Though it is weakened to a category 1 hurricane, Jova is expected to cause some more damage as it goes north of Jalisco Mexico today.
Hurricane Jova left behind floods, mudslides and downed trees and power lines on its path through Manzanillo, on the South-West of Jalisco, with winds up to 100mph.
The hurricane hits Jalisco two days before the inauguration of the Panamerican games in Guadalajara; weather forecasts indicates that by 13:00GMT, the hurricane will be downgraded to a tropical storm, and will be located 15 miles North-East of Puerto Vallarta, with sustained winds of 65-75mph. The Panamerican games heavy rains are expected for the games opening on Friday.
