Dominican Republic officials are announcing that 12 people have died while over three hundred have been injured during the country’s Easter break.
The majority of deaths and injuries are from traffic accidents while two individuals died from alcohol poisoning and one from drowning. There were also twelve people who suffered alcohol poisoning and recovered.
The alarming statistics put the Dominican Republic’s Emergency Operations Center on the defensive whereby they had volunteers getting the message out on safe driving during the holiday.
The country started celebrating the holiday last Wednesday through Sunday and then the traditional Dominican spring break follows.
