Photo: Chavez arrives in Cuba for Chemotherapy
On Friday the Brazilian government was reporting that ailing Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez was heading to their country to receive treatment for his yet-to-be-identified cancer - those reports were in fact wrong.
Yesterday, Chavez arrived in Cuba for an unknown period of time to receive chemotherapy. It is believed Chavez opted out of going to the renown Brazilian hospital Sirio-Libanes, because they could not guarantee him privacy and the security he felt he needed while convalescing.
Before he left he held a rally for supporters worried about him and the future of his presidency. He assured everyone that no new cancerous cells have been found since his June cancer surgery. Nonetheless, Chavez delegated some of his duties to his Vice President Elias Jaua.
