In 1513 Juan Ponce de Leon went on an expedition from Puerto Rico and landed at Melbourne Beach, Florida. Yes, that was 263 years before the Declaration of Independence was signed. So, Spanish has been talked in USA for a very long time. To recognize this historic milestone and the contributions of Hispanics, Florida Legislators approved into law the first Hispanic automobile license plate in the USA and available only in Florida. Proceeds form the $25 donation when a plate is purchased at any DMV or Tax Collector office, goes to scholarships and community grants.
