Guatemalan singer-songwriter Ricardo Arjona said here that he’s ready to take his “Viaje” (Trip) around the world, that being the title of his latest disc.
Arjona, who in August will be off on a world tour, spoke to reporters before an “intimate” recital in Mexico City where he previewed part of this album, the result of some emotional blows over the past three years, particularly from the loss of his parents.
The disc emerged from some trips he made to nowhere in particular to escape, to get away, to find himself again, he said.
“From this rediscovery of myself and from the ton of things that happened to me over the past three years, along with the tremendous losses, the burden of those losses, comes a disc of many colors,” he said.
The result has been professionally enriching, while personally, he said, you have to “survive and learn from the absences” in order to “try to get out of those bad times.”
Arjona said that on this occasion, since he wanted “more shades in the colors of the disc,” he recorded the album in New York, London, Miami, Guatemala and Mexico.
He also included the participation of five producers, which in his opinion resulted in “a challenge, but also in a wide-ranging disc” for the variety of its pieces.
