Real Madrid forward Jese Rodriguez underwent successful anterior cruciate ligament and lateral meniscus surgery Thursday in Germany, the Spanish club said.
Renowned German orthopedic surgeon Dr. Ulrich Boenisch performed the operation on the Spanish player’s right knee under the supervision of Real Madrid physicians Jesus Olmo and Francisco Morate.
Jese left the field on a stretcher Tuesday night after Schalke 04 defender Sead Kolasinac landed on his knee in the opening minutes of the teams’ Champions League round of 16 clash Tuesday night.
The Blancos won the match 3-1 to wrap up a 9-2 aggregate triumph over the German club and advance to the quarterfinals.
The 21-year-old forward will return to Madrid in the coming days once he has been discharged from the Hessingpark-Clinic in the southern German city of Augsburg.
