The bi-partisan Senate committee working on comprehensive immigration reform, dubbed the ‘Gang of Eight’, appear ready to present a bill as early as Thursday.
Senate sources, according to The Hill, want to present the bill before the week-end and feel they have made enough progress on key issues to move forward.
The group apparently has finalized an agreement on issues related to immigration including a “path to citizenship’ to the number of work visas for agricultural workers to border security.
The group of Senators includes: Sen. Michael Benner, (D-CO), Sen. Dick Durbin, (D-IL), Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ), Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ), Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), and Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY).
This announcement comes right after Cuban-American Senator Rubio urged for public hearings and a cautious and slow approach to immigration reform.
