A plastic surgeon not licensed to practice in the United States will serve just 250 hours of community service for disfiguring seven women in New York.
Along with the community service, 52-year-old Hector Cabral is being sent back to Dominican Republic, will not be able to return to the U.S. for three years, and will being paying a mere $23,000 in total restitution to his victims.
The surgeon, who is only licensed to practice in the Dominican, is said to have promised Latinas cheap liposuctions to make them more beautiful, but what the women were left with was not beauty, it was pain and infection accompanied by both physical and emotional scars.
After the liposuctions of the women, each was left with post-op blackening of their skin followed by life-threatening infections.
Though he pled guilty in October 2011, Cabral avoided jail time by making a deal with the State Attorney General’s office. Tuesday, the deal was finalized by Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Laura Ward.
