You have to have a pretty strong influence on people for a single tweet to shoot a company’s stock up nearly 10 percent in a matter of a few hours.
Nina Garcia, known to many as a judge on Heidi Klum’s Project Runway helped JC Penney stock finish up 4.7 percent on Thursday.
Garcia, the Fashion Director at Marie Claire, tweeted:
I’m @jcpenney’s HQ. Thank you Ron Johnson for the walk through of JCP’s prototype. Get ready to shop! Its going to be a game changer!
Immediately following her Twitter post, which was picked up by her roughly 470,000 followers, JC Penney’s stock jumped 9.9 percent.
The Colombian fashion maven is believed to have been the primary reason for the 9.9 percent spike, though it was also announced that the stores will soon have juice bars.
Garcia is currently to be a part of Project Runway‘s twelfth season. She began on the reality fashion show when it first aired in 2004.
