After some maintenance and a new paintjob, police will patrol the streets onboard a Ferrari that once belonged to drug lord Hernándo Gómez a.k.a. “Rasguño” (English translation is ‘scratch’).

According to the Colombian news site “El Espectador,” a 1991 black Ferrari worth a quarter of a million dollars has been sent to the shop for a paint job, and the necessary maintenance to turn it into a police car.

The vehicle had been put up for auction by the police after they seized Gomez’ assets.  They failed to find a buyer so opted to use it in their fleet.

“Rasguño” was considered one of the most important leaders of the Cali cartel. He was arrested in Cuba in 2004 and then deported to Colombia, who in turn had him extradited to the U.S. in 2007.
