Venezuelan ex-Miss. Universe Alicia Machado somehow managed in 140 twitter characters to divide China, and ask followers to join in prayer for its (their?) well being.
Machado, who has posed for Playboy Magazine several times, was forced to close her twitter account after her comment unleashed a rush of insulting posts, jokes and heckling. Before closing it however, she did say ““I didn’t make a mistake, what I did was ask for a prayer for all the conflict happening in Asia. I just said it in a very colloquial way and it was misunderstood. Obviously, I know about the attack of North Korea on South Korea. When I say ‘las Chinas’ I am referring to the entire Asian continent, like when we say ‘Oh, look at the gringo’, and it turns out to be a Canadian. Like at first when you see an Asian you say they are Chinese…that’s what I was referring to. It was a Colloquialism. I have two degrees, and was Miss Universe 14 years ago. Dumb, I am not.”
Her gaffe came shortly before Sarah Palin suggested on the Glen Beck Show that “We should stand with our North Korean Allies”.
Freudian slips? Or are these two bimbos completely bonkers?
