Italy and Spain showed to be even matches in the opening game of Group C at the EuroCup.
Spain, who were the 2008 European Champions, is hoping the be the first nation to win back-to- back.
Italian forward Mario Balotelli, who ruined a major opportunity to score, was replaced by substitute Antonio Di Natale in the 56th minute. Five minutes in to playing, Di Natale scored. Unfortunately, Italy’s celebrations were well cut short by Spanish Center Forward Cesc Fabregas.
In the 64th minute Fabregas scored, saving the reputation of the reigning World and European champions.
With the score leveled at 1-1, both team eagerly fought but to no avail.
This Thursday Spain will take on Ireland and Italy will face Croatia.
