A 65-year-old man died from an apparent heart attack while standing in line in a Mexico City bank as other customers and most of the employees ignored what was happening, officials said.
Julian Vives Leon, who was identified by his brother, died on Tuesday, the Federal District Attorney’s Office said.
An ambulance was finally summoned, but Vives was dead when paramedics arrived, the DA’s office said.
Vives was standing in line when he suddenly placed his hands on his chest and collapsed, media reports said, citing eyewitnesses.
A security guard went over to the dying man, but the other customers continued going about their business without paying attention to him, media reports said.
Vives’s body was covered with a blanket until coroner’s office personnel arrived to remove it from the bank, where business continued uninterrupted.
