Atletico Madrid is negotiating a deal with Dutch club PSV Eindhoven for the transfer of 18-year-old Belgian striker Zakaria Bakkali, Amsterdam-based daily De Telegraaf reported Wednesday.
“Atletico de Madrid is willing to pay a transfer fee of between 2-3 million euros ($2.7 million-$4 million), as reported by sources close to the Madrid club,” the paper said.
The reigning La Liga champions have presented their offer for the 5-foot-5 striker of Moroccan descent to PSV, which would be parting ways with one of the top prospects in Belgian soccer.
Bakkali’s contract is set to expire in June 2015 and he has rejected the Dutch club’s attempts to sign him to an extension, De Telegraaf noted, adding that a move to Atletico Madrid “appears to be the best solution for all parties.”
