The Disney Channel and Pol-ka, the Argentine production company behind the Latin American version of “Desperate Housewives,” and local hits like political drama “El Puntero” (The Pointer) and international hit “Mujeres Asesinas” (Female Assassins) have started filming of “Violetta.” To be released next year, “Violetta” tells the coming of age story of a teen that returns home after living in Europe.
This collaboration will be the first time the Disney Channel co-produces a Series in Latin America.
Violetta, a teenager who, after living in Europe, returns to her native Buenos Aires is the main character of the new TV series an ode to thespian friendship, love, music and the difficulties of coming of age.
With teen actors from Argentina, Brazil, Italy, Mexico and Spain, Violetta pretends to reach teens across cultures; Violetta” is due to begin airing next year in Africa, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East.
