In March, the Detroit Free Press put out a call to students to create a prom dress out of newspaper. Earlier this week, the 8 finalists were announced, and 17-year-old Ari Diaz among them.
The Free Press Prom Design Contest had a prize of $50, and while Diaz was not the winner, she came in 2nd place behind classmate Molly Bonnell, also a junior from Royal Oak Shrine Catholic High School.
Diaz’s friend, Izzy Hinojosa, liked the dress so much that she will be wearing it to the school’s Senior Ball on May 21.
Check out Diaz’s impressive denim-inspired dress below.
