Venezuelan fashion designer, Carolina Herrera, has reached another milestone in her stellar career, $1 billion in annual sales. This is yet another milestone for the iconic designer who last year celebrated 30-years in business.
Along her thirty-year career Herrera has collected countless awards from “Womenswear Designer of the Year” in 2004 to receiving “Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award” in 2008. In 2002 the Spanish government gave her one of their highest award, the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts. In 1997 she was also honored by Spain with the Gold Medal by the Queen Sofia Spanish Institute.
Herrera, who has four daughters, also receive one of pop culture’s most popular recognitions a ‘Got Milk!’ ad with her daughter also named Carolina. The ad reads “Fabric is my livelihood, and good health is the fabric of my life.”
Herrera is the daughter of a former Governor of Caracas and became a U.S. citizen in 2009.
Herrera’s latest collection was the Fall 2012 line presented in February of this year. The ‘artist-studio-inspired’ collection was received to great reviews. FabSugar noted the collection pleased “both the celebrity clientele and polished working women, Herrera displayed her magnitude for the classics and modernity in one graceful swoop.”
