Singer Demi Lovato has just revealed another insight into her struggle with addictions. In a confessional interview with ‘Access Hollywood’ Lovato spoke of her inability to go longer than a half-an-hour without having the urge to use cocaine. She spoke of her transporting the drug on planes and abusing substances without the knowledge of her sober coaches.
Lovato confesses, “I would smuggle it basically and just wait until everyone in first class would go to sleep and I would do it right there. I’d sneak to the bathroom and I’d do it.”
The 21 year-old singer’s struggle with an eating disorder and cutting have been well documented thanks in part to Lovato who is very candid with her fans. Lovato lived in a treatment facility to deal with her issues for over a year. Her erratic behavior due to alcohol and drug abuse came to ahead in 2010 when she was in a public fight and cancelled concert performances. She has admitted to eating and throwing up afterwards since she was 8-years-old.
Lovato is also dealing with a bipolar disorder that she has sought treatment for. The talented former Barney & Friends star’s mother, Dianna, also confessed to having an eating disorder and battling severe depression.
In spite of her emotional challenges and addictions Lovato has forged an incredible singing career and has legions of young fans. She is currently a judge on ‘The X Factor” and wrote a memoir “Staying Strong: 365 Days a Year,” published last month.
Lovato’s ‘Neon Lights Tour’ kicks off next year on February 9th in Vancouver, Canada.
