The Dalai Lama, Tibets leader, is on his third visit to Mexico and will participate in conferences and events accompanied by celebrities “Chespirito” and Richard Gere.
The Dalai Lama arrived in Monterrey today, where he will be giving a conference on harmony and altruism at the “Third World Summit in Values and the Culture of Legality,” an event that comedian Chespirito will also attend as a speaker.
After his visit to Monterrey, the spiritual leader will go to México City where he will inaugurate an exposition titled “Tibet, Memories of a Lost Motherland,” at the Museum of Memory and Tolerance.
On Sunday, the Dalai Lama will participate in two massive events, one with Mexican teachers and the other one at the Cruz Azul stadium, where he will be joined by actor and activist Richard Gere, in an event called “Finding Happiness in Difficult Times” that could see 30,000 people in attendance.
No meetings with Mexican government officials have been scheduled, though the Dalai Lama’s spokesperson said they’re still waiting for confirmation on a possible meeting with President Felipe Calderón.
The Dalai Lama’s visit will conclude on Monday, when he’ll travel south to Buenos Aires, Argentina.
