Surveillance cameras from a San Diego 7-11 prove that a few minutes before 8pm on Labor Day, an unusually tense Gumby entered the store followed by a Latino man. Police said they are investigating this unidentified male who entered the store seconds before Gumby attempted to rob it.
The video shows the Latino male taking a sharp right onto the chips isle while Gumby—his lovable yellow smile contorted into a threatening grimace, approaches the clerk with his arms raised high in an attempt to appear bigger and demands cash and a pack of cigarettes. The young man doesn’t appeared bothered as he is entering the store that a large green creature is entering the very store he was shopping in - hence why police believe the two maybe working together.
The clerk, a Gumby fan, couldn’t believe his ears, and remained wide eyed and silent, slowly shaking his head in disappointment.
Eventually, Gumby felt uncomfortable and left the store, not without allegedly dropping some change on the ground while fumbling around possibly for a weapon.
Since nothing was stolen, the clerk didn’t report it and took the incident as a joke.
Police have offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Gumby, his possible Latino crime mentor and their getaway pony, Pokey - well actually they aren’t looking for Pokey.
