Costa Rica Dismantles Cocaine Smuggling Ring Using Local Fishermen

The defense ministry of Costa Rica has announced it has dismantled a cocaine smuggling ring using local fishermen and their fishing vessels.

The drug smuggling ring moves drugs from Ecuador and Colombian through Central America and into Mexico; the drugs were ultimately headed for U.S. distribution.

The ministry announced it arrested six individuals, the majority of which are Colombian and one Costa Rican native.  The drug network paid local fishermen to haul the cocaine and used their fishing vessel as a front.
