Morelia Monarcas soccer club coach Tomas Boy is the subject of a criminal complaint filed with prosecutors in the central state of Puebla alleging that he punched a photographer, Mexican media reported.

The coach confronted Victor Rojas, a photographer for the Sintesis newspaper, for snapping photos of him as he arrived at the Los Olivos training complex.

The incident occurred on Saturday just before the First Division team practiced with Special Olympics players at the facility.

A furious Boy punched the photographer in the face, eyewitnesses said.

Monarcas public relations chief Mario Mendoza managed to separate Boy and Rojas, who filed a criminal complaint a few hours later with the Puebla state Attorney General’s Office.

Boy, who was on the Mexican national team that reached the quarterfinals of the 1986 World Cup, is one of the most controversial coaches in the First Division because of his history of confrontations with fellow coaches and players.
