Four laborers working on the remodeling of a restaurant in northern Mexico were killed when the marquee over the entrance crashed down on them, authorities said.
The incident occurred in the Monterrey suburb of San Pedro, Nuevo Leon state emergency services officials told media outlets.
The workers were apparently remodeling a restaurant when around 12:30 a.m. Thursday they were crushed under the marquee.
Two of the builders were identified as Benigno Vallejo Flores, 47, and Hector Lopez Ochoa, 36, while the names of the other two were not mentioned.
Though paramedics rushed to help the builders, they were already lifeless, buried under the rubble of the marquee.
Personnel at the coroner’s office went to the scene of the accident to recover the bodies of the victims and take them to the hospital where their autopsies were to be performed.
