A young recently ran away from their families’ homes in New and East Haven, Connecticut over the weekend.

Jose Armando Rojas, 13, and Erica Lucera, 12, intended to elope when they ran away Saturday night. The children reportedly packed clothes and snuck out some time in the night. When their parents found the children missing and clothes missing, they called police.

However, police say they were never actively involved in a search for the children, with a police spokesman saying, ‘This was not a police investigation or a case for us. Family didn’t find them, they returned home. They were kids that packed a bag and left home.”

At around 3:30 p.m. Monday, Rojas and Lucera returned home, and police say they believed the two tried to elope.

Police have said the investigation is now closed and does not believe the children were ever in danger.

We’re guessing the intended marriage did not happen.
