JPMorgan Chase & Co. just announced it will refund late fees and help its 16.6 million online customers that were unable to access their accounts yesterday and earlier this week. Chase’s system first failed on September 13, failing twice in the same day and then again yesterday. Customers were unable to process payments, approximately 3.7 million households use the bank’s online system to pay bills. The banking giant will also refund fees charged by other institutions and customers must contact their local branch or call Chase to notify them of the fees incurred. Chase is attributing the problem to a software glitch and assures everyone that bank accounts or personal data was never at risk.
