Mexican Foreign Relations Secretary Jose Antonio Meade begins a working visit Sunday to China, where he hopes to bolster bilateral relations and “start a new stage of cooperation,” the Foreign Relations Secretariat said.
The visit is being undertaken “within the framework of the process of strengthening the political dialogue agreed to by Presidents Enrique Peña Nieto and Xi Jinping on the occasion of the meeting they held in Sanya, Hainan province, last April 6,” the secretariat said in a statement.
Meade’s delegation includes officials from several other Cabint departments, the secretariat said.
The foreign relations secretary will make it clear to Chinese officials that Mexico is seeking to “begin a new stage of cooperation, deepening the focus of the relationship” with China, the secretariat said.
