Chinese diners have another option available to them as Tuesday, thanks to the opening of downtown Beijing’s first Argentine restaurant.
Restaurateur Diego Kuo, an Argentine of Chinese descent, has given diners a place where they can savor an empanada, some chorizo or an asado at Che Diego!
The restaurant also offers wines from Argentina’s Mendoza, San Juan, Salta and La Rioja provinces.
“There is gigantic potential in this city in terms of the size of the market. We expect to have a Western clientele, but we’re also hoping for other people passing through, such as tourists or business travelers,” Kuo told Efe during the restaurant’s opening.
Kuo, whose family owns several restaurants in Argentina, spent two years traveling around Asia, Europe and Latin America to “gather experiences” before plunging into his culinary adventure.
Che Diego! also will be a center for promoting Argentine culture, offering tango performances, live music, art exhibitions and other events, Kuo said.
