Dozens of inmates at a prison in Santiago, Chile take a break from their daily chores to perform a dance routine for the country’s prisons minister.
Thousands on prisoners jump and dance in unison to Queen’s hit “We Will Rock You” blasts over loudspeakers in the prison’s courtyard. Clad in neon tops and white trousers, the men danced for 20 minutes, performing various routines choreographed by the Chilean television star Julio Zuniga.
The prisoners had rehearsed for three hours a day for a month before the performance.
The event was part of a prison service initiative to reduce the levels of violence among inmates by encouraging them to try new activities in a bid to improve their self-esteem.
