Chilean Miners Set to Offer Mass of Thanks for Their Rescue

This Monday, October 25th, the 33 rescued Chilean miners will gather once again this time to offer a mass of Thanksgiving presided over by the president of the Chilean Bishops’ Conference, Bishop Alejandro Goic.

The liturgy will take place at the National Shrine of Maipu in Santiago with the President of Chile, Sebastian Pinera, in attendance.  The Catholic Church pronounced this as an opportunity to show “gratitude to the Lord for the happy end to Operation San Lorenzo.”

The 33 miners were rescued last week, from the San Jose mine after spending 69 days trapped when the mine collapsed.
