Valencia gave Paris Saint-Germain a scare here Wednesday in the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 clash, but the home side answered with a tying goal and advanced to the quarterfinals 3-2 on aggregate.
The Spanish club, which came into the contest trailing after a 2-1 home loss in the first leg, dared to hope for a miracle after taking a 1-0 lead with Jonas’ goal in the 55th minute.
But the challenge of winning by at least a two-goal margin against a PSG squad that was unbeaten in 22 consecutive home matches proved to be too great and Lavezzi closed the door when he notched the equalizer at the 66-minute mark.
Juventus, meanwhile, had no trouble dispatching Celtic on Wednesday.
The Italian club won 2-0 at home on tallies by Matri and Quagliarella, after dominating the Scottish club 3-0 in the first leg at Glasgow.
