Bruno Mars briefly returned to Twitter on Thursday to thank his fans for their love and support.
Mars’ mother, Bernadette Hernandez was just 55 when she died from a brain aneurysm on Saturday after being admitted to the Queens Medical Center in Honolulu on Friday. Initial reports were that the mother of six had suffered a heart attack, but her ailment was later clarified.
Born Peter Gene Hernandez, Mars is usually very active on social media, but following the sudden death of his mother, the 27-year-old had been silent.
On Thursday, the “Locked Out of Heaven” singer, broke that silence, tweeting:

When Mars was just 4 years old, he wrote a song for his mother called, “I Love You, Mom.” In it, the adorable pint size crooner sings, “I love you, Mom. You are my favorite girl.” Check out the touching song below.
