GQ: You want to shock the world?

Bruno Mars: Hell yeah! I’ve got nothing else to do.

For GQ‘s April issue, Chris Heath met with Bruno Mars in Los Angeles to discuss the singer-songwriter’s past, present and future in “The Mars Expedition.”

The men discuss that just as his star was on the rise following the release of “Just the Way You Are” in 2010,  Mars was arrested in a Vegas bathroom and charged with cocaine possession. When asked by Heath if he was scared when police arrived he answered, ‘Oh yeah, of course. I was given a number one record and I’m out doing dumb sh*t.’

Asked what he learned from his drug charge, Mars says he learned it can all be taken away. Even if you’ve worked for years to make a name for yourself and garner a huge following, it can be taken away.

‘You’ve prepped your whole life. It’s all you know how to do. You’re a kid experiencing life in fucking Sin City, and that was the lesson: It can all be taken away. Put you in a weird place. Embarrass you.’
