A police inspector in Brazil was recently fired for comments he made on Twitter regarding woman who worked for him.

On Monday, Inspector Pedro Paulo Pinho of Rio de Janeiro was angered when he discovered a female officer who did not show up for work was still able to use Twitter and was posting various things throughout the day.

Pinho then began tweeting himself, saying, “only one” of his female officers “had the talent, courage and determination needed for police work.”

He also posted about one exceptional female officer, “And this one, among 14, still young, has no man to match her. When a woman is good at what she does, no one can beat her. But otherwise…”

The head of Rio de Janeiro civil police, Martha Rocha, found the tweets offensive and inappropriate, and said his actions were unsuitable for a police chief.

Pinho was fired and replaced by Monique Vidal after Rocha said he displayed “difficulties in managing the human resources at his disposal.”

Pinho’s use of Twitter during work was also said to have contributed to his firing.
