Brazilian Surgeon Dr. Liacyr Ribeiro has just admitted to have surgically removed at least ten years off Moammar Gadhafi’s features by removing fat from his belly and injecting it into his wrinkly face.
“He told me that he had been in power for 25 years at that time, and that he did not want the young people of his nation to see him as an old man,” Dr. Liacyr Ribeiro said. He also said the Libyan leader declined his suggestion for a face lift, but did get hair plugs and a lot of injectables.
Inside a heavily secured bunker and with the outmost secrecy, Dr. Ribeiro worked for four hours in 1995 on making Gadhafi more aesthetically pleasing; the leader requested local anesthesia, as he insisted to be alert throughout (paranoid, anyone?), and halfway through, requested the procedure to be stopped, and had a hamburger.
After the procedure, Ribeiro was handed an envelope “full of U.S. dollars and Swiss francs.” He did not disclosed how much was in there, “All I can say is that it was more than I would charge for my services in Brazil,” he said.
The aesthetician said he believes Gadhafi chose him because Libyan surgeons were either “incapable of doing what I did or too scared that he would die on the operating table.”
Dr. Ribeiro made clear that these comments were intended only to provide insight into the peculiar leader, and certainly not to boast.
“Gadhafi is not looking very good these days, to let potential patients know that I operated on him would be counterproductive.” Or does Dr. Ribeiro hope to work on the leader when and if he is removed from Libya?
