The government’s high commissioner for Brand Spain and the head of public broadcaster RTVE signed an agreement here Thursday to cooperate in promoting the image of the Iberian nation.
Carlos Espinosa de los Monteros said he was confident the accord would contribute to the dissemination of all the “positive attributes” of Brand Spain.
“If we want to project an image of Spain as a modern, committed and supportive country, we have to make a great effort for Spaniards to feel the pride of belonging to this country, to know what its merits are, what are the elements they can feel proud of,” the high commissioner said.
Speaking for RTVE, President Leopoldo Gonzalez-Echenique stressed the broadcaster’s commitment to “promote Spanish interests abroad and to disseminate (Spain’s) historical, cultural, entrepreneurial and social legacy.”
The agreement calls for RTVE to place at the disposal of the Brand Spain organization both content and platforms, including the broadcaster’s Web page and its international radio and television channels.
The Brand Spain office earlier entered into a similar pact with Agencia Efe, Spain’s international news agency.
Espinosa de los Monteros’ mission is to raise Spain’s profile internationally and to spread knowledge of his country’s new political, social and cultural reality.
