Luis Suárez scored in the 43rd minute giving the South American team a 1-0 victory at the World cup. Both teams will face Group B members who will be decided later tonight.
Suarez ran unguarded to the back post and headed in Edinson Cavani’s cross for his first goal of the tournament. Coach Javier Aguirre of Mexico preserved the same lineup that helped the team beat France, veteran striker Cuauhtemoc Blanco, replaced injured player Carlos Vega.
The closest Mexico came to scoring was in the 22nd minute when Andres Guardado, substituted suspended midfielder Efrain Juarez, kicked a left-footed shot from 30 yards that bounced off the underside of the crossbar.
