U.S. Customs and Border Protection Office of Air and Marine (OAM) and El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents worked together to rescue two distressed illegal aliens who had lost their way in the mountains.

The incident occurred Tuesday morning at approximately 8:45 a.m., after Mexican authorities contacted the El Centro Sector Border Patrol concerning two men who placed a distress telephone call. The men stated they ran out of water and were wandering lost in a mountainous area.

At approximately 10:14 a.m., a helicopter from CBP OAM located the two men and directed Border Patrol Agents to their location. Agents determined that both persons appeared to be in good physical condition and they declined medical attention. The 36 and 40-year-old male Mexican nationals were then transported to the El Centro Border Patrol Station to be processed for entering the U.S. illegally and for further evaluation.

The El Centro Sector Border Patrol has recorded seven rescues for fiscal year 2012.
