Border City of El Paso, Texas Named Safest U.S. City

As Texas Governor Rick Perry calls for U.S. troops to enter Mexico and continues to ask for more help to secure the border, El Paso, Texas has been named the safest large city in the U.S.

The annual rankings produced by CQ Press announced this Sunday that El Paso had the lowest crime rate among cities with more than 500,000 residents.  The survey looks at FBI crime statistics that include auto theft to rape to murder.  El Paso is located right across the U.S.-Mexico border from Ciudad Juarez, considered the most dangerous city in North America.

This year thus far there were 2,700 murders in Juarez, Mexico versus 13 in El Paso.
