The man who ordered the band Kolombia Kombo to play that night in Hidalgo, Jose Isidro Cruz would Villarreal, is “The Pichilo”. He is one of the inmates that escaped from Apodaca in 2012, and who is wanted in at least five separate municipalities.
The Picchilo is a leader of the Zetas, and the person who ordered the group to perform at the winery La Carreta.

After playing for several hours, the same attendees at the private party organized the kidnapping of the group and then their execution.

A major hypothesis is that multiple executions were retaliation because the group had played their music in places that previously controlled the Zetas and now dominates the Gulf Cartel.

This would be the reason that 17 team members and staff were executed in Mina.

The 18 members were taken to an abandoned ranch in Mina, where they were interrogated and tortured.

The gunmen questioned the bandleader as to why they had been performing in places that now were controlled by the Gulf Cartel.

During these events one of the members managed to escape, when one by one the musicians and staff members were executed and their bodies thrown into a deep well of water.

“The Pichilo” is one of 37 inmates who escaped on 19 February last year’s Cereso Apodaca, after massacring 44 inmates of CDG, the source said.
