The number of children and adolescents who carry firearms in Guanajuato is steadily increasing according to a report from the Attorney General PGJ entity.
In 2011 only nine minors were found to be in possession of revolvers, brackets, machine guns, etc.. Although in 2013 found a total of 50. All of them were found in the 23 municipalities as Acambaro Apaseo Alto, Celaya, Coroneo, Cortazar, Cuerámaro, Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato, Irapuato, Leon, Pénjamo, Pueblo Nuevo, Salamanca . Also in San Miguel de Allende, Santa Cruz de Juventino Rosas, Santiago Maravatío, Silao, Tarandacuao, Tarimoro, Uriangato, Valle de Santiago, Villagran and Yuriria. This increase in the number of children and adolescents who carry guns seems to be related to the increase in the number of minors engaged in drug dealing in the state.
The state Attorney revealed that while in 2011 arrested 12 minors transporting or trading in drugs at wholesale or retail to the end of 2013 the figure was 848.
