Five members of the Zeta Cartel were arrested by the Highway Patrol and the State Investigation Agency, accused of having participated in the execution of 12 men and 10 women, who were mostly incinerated.
Jorge Domene, State Security spokesman, said at a press conference that the defendants murdered their victims between April and August, in the town of Anahuac.
The suspects confessed their involvement in violence and betrayed their leader, whom he identified only by the name of “Edu”.
With information provided to the authorities, ministerial agents arrested two more accomplices, but the leader of the cell remains at large.
Those arrested were identified as Alejandro Saldaña Ezaú Olvera, aka “The Tao”, 29, Carlos Arturo Escalante Bazaldua, “The Anahuac” and / or “The Arturin”, 26, Jesus or Jesus Mendoza Guadalupe Frias Frias Alejandro Lozano, “The Lupin”, “El Gordo”, “The Cochiloco”, “The Pig”, “The Cow”, 19.
The other detainees are Mario Vazquez Ramirez, “The Chester”, 20, and Francisco Javier Sánchez Robles, “El Chacho”, 32.
