The Mexican government reported that in six attacks on the Federal Police in Michoacán at least 22 people were killed and 15 more were wounded.
Two of the dead were federal police.
In a statement, the agency reports that 20 of the dead are suspected cartel members. 15 soldiers were reported wounded. The ambush attacks were planned in advance, involving criminals with rifles hidden in the hills, in addition to blocking roads with buses and other units. Incidents were recorded in two sections of the road Tumbiscatío - Arteaga, in the village known as Puerto Mamey, in Aguaje area in the community of Little Hell and in the village El Carrizo. Roadblocks were set up to aid in the attacks in a stretch of road from Apatzingán to Cuatro Caminos, in the municipality of Nueva Italia, and one more on the road Lazaro Cardenas – Uruapan. Those being held were released after a few hours by members of the Regional Security Division of the Federal Police, supported by military personnel.
