Many locals in Albuquerque, New Mexico said Jerry Perea was turning his life around by finding God after his numerous brushes with the law. Then it all turned tragic and bizarre yesterday afternoon.
Police answered a distress call at Perea’s mother’s home where she claimed he was out of control. Police didn’t find him home but located him later riding his bike. At this point he hit officers with his crucifix.
When the 38-year old Hispanic man couldn’t be subdued he was tasered. Things turned from bad to worse when he died after being rushed to the hospital.
Albuquerque Police Department Chief Ray Schultz commented: “He’s described as very large and overweight. We don’t know if he had a heart attack of if he had a medical episode.”
