FC Barcelona captain Carles Puyol was back practicing Friday with the full squad, although the defenseman only participated in some of the drills.
Puyol, who last played in the round of 16 of the Champions League against A.C. Milan in March, is in the final stage of his recovery from a right-knee injury that required surgery to remove a cyst.
The return of Puyol was the main storyline of Barça’s training session, in which Sergio Busquets and Dani Alves appeared fully recovered from recent injuries and were practicing normally and youth player Juan Antonio Ros joined the first team.
Those additions meant that head coach Gerardo “Tata” Martino had “all of his players with him” as the team made final preparations for Saturday’s La Liga game against Sevilla at Camp Nou, the team said on its Web site.
Defending champion Barcelona is seeking its fourth straight win at the start the 2013-14 Spanish-league season.
