Assistant Secretary for Economic, Energy and Business Affairs Jose W. Fernandez travels to Miami, Florida, today through February 4th, where he will meet with business and community leaders as part of the Administration’s focus on fostering an equal partnership with Latin America based on mutual respect, common interests, and shared values.
Assistant Secretary Fernandez will be the keynote speaker at the Association of American Chambers of Commerce in Latin America “Outlook on the Americas” luncheon at the University of Miami on February 3. Assistant Secretary Fernandez will highlight key initiatives in Latin America that are critical parts of our commitment to deepening relationships with our neighbors through partnership and not patronage. These include: leveraging remittances for development funding, assisting countries in raising their own investment revenues, supporting renewable energy and women’s economic empowerment.
Also on February 3, Assistant Secretary Fernandez will participate in a discussion on current economic developments in Latin America and the Caribbean region at an event hosted by the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Initiatives at Miami Dade College.
